Welcome to the website for Hale Chapel! We seek to be an intentionally diverse religious community that welcomes all who search for a faith with integrity and openness to unfolding thoughts and information. We unite for the worship of God, in the spirit of Jesus, for the service of humankind, always valuing the virtues of freedom, reason and tolerance.

The congregation was founded in 1723 and is the oldest Christian community in the village of Hale Barns. It is a member of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches, whose object is as follows:

‘To promote a free and inquiring religion through the worship of God and the celebration of life; the service of humanity and respect for all creation; and the upholding of the liberal Christian tradition.’

We meet every Sunday at 9.30am for worship for about one hour. Light refreshments are served after every service in the chapel vestry. This is a good opportunity for newcomers to become acquainted with the members of the congregation and learn about the distinct customs and perspectives of the Unitarian and Free Christian tradition. Our address is 60 Chapel Lane, Hale Barns, Altrincham, WA15 0HT. In addition to being in membership of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches, the congregation is a member of the Manchester District of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches, the Unitarian Christian Association, and the Altrincham Inter-Faith Group.
